Emil Johansson is an ICT engineer and team leader at Transtema. He is responsible for a team of eight people and works with installation and maintenance of IT equipment in data centers. Emil has been working at Transtema for ten years, he enjoys his work and is still learning new things all the time.

What does your job involve?

– I am a team leader at what is called GIC ICT, which means I work in a data center. I am responsible for a team of eight people. A typical day for me, in my role, is about leading my team, planning the work and allocating tasks.

– In the data center, we work on installing and maintaining servers, switches and other equipment that our customers need in their test environments. We receive requests from support for things that need to be fixed. It could be cables that need to be replaced, switches that need to be rebooted or software that needs to be updated.

– A big part of my job is to optimize and improve the environments we work in, which I find exciting. No two days are the same and there are often new challenges and lessons learnt. The work is very varied, and I learn something new all the time. The environment in the data center is constantly changing, especially in testing and development. This means that there are always new things to learn and discover.

What is your background and education?

– Basically, I am a trained electrician from high school. Then when I started working, I went straight to working with fiber cabling in the field. Now I work with the technology of the future at data centers, which is both exciting and challenging. It’s rewarding to be involved in shaping tomorrow’s solutions. At Transtema, we work with technology in such an innovative and rapidly changing area. Every day brings new opportunities and challenges, and it’s exciting to be part of this development.

What is the best thing about your job?

– The best part of my job is seeing both my team, and the technical environments develop and grow. I’m passionate about team spirit and creating an environment where everyone can reach their full potential. It’s inspiring to see people develop, both personally and professionally. At Transtema I get the chance to develop and grow. We have a fantastic sense of unity and a strong team where everyone supports each other. There are many talented and committed people in the organization, which makes the job both fun and meaningful. I lead and inspire my team, and make sure that together we install and maintain important IT equipment. We are building the future of technology!

What are the biggest challenges of your job?

– One of the biggest challenges is to constantly keep up to date with the rapid technological developments. It’s important to always be one step ahead to offer the best solutions for our customers. At the same time, it is a positive challenge that drives me forward. Every day we face new challenges that require fast and efficient solutions. It’s also important to ensure that the team is well connected and that all members feel supported and inspired. I love to lead and inspire my team, making sure that together we install and maintain important IT equipment.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][image_text drop_style=”left” color_text_block=”no-bg” poster_image=”13174″]

Favorite memory from Transtema

– One of my favorite memories is when I got to go on the Transtema Hero trip to Lofoten. It was an incredible experience! But also, in everyday life there are many highlights, like when we solve a difficult problem or successfully complete a project. It’s great to see how our joint work produces good results.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about applying to become an ICT technician?

– Dare to take the step! Here at Transtema you get the chance to work with the latest technology, develop every day and be part of a strong and supportive team. It’s a great opportunity to grow both as a person and professionally. We also have a wide variety of people and cultures, which makes the job extra exciting and educational.
