Jennifer Andersson has grown into several roles since she started at Transtema. With extensive experience in administration and a strong commitment to sustainability, Transtema marked the beginning of a development journey that has now led her to the position of Purchasing Specialist.

Focus on sustainability sparked interest

Jennifer began as a consultant in the role of Purchasing Administrator in 2022. After many years in administration, mainly in finance, but also in procurement in the automotive, truck, and machinery industries, she felt it was time for a new challenge.

“When I saw the job as a Purchasing Administrator, I was immediately intrigued. It was primarily the focus on sustainability and the clear goals that Transtema had set in that area that attracted me to apply. It felt innovative and motivating. You can always learn the product, and I thought the business strategy was interesting.”

Education and experience shape a new role

After about a year as a consultant, Jennifer was hired in 2023. Her role then developed from purely procurement administration to also including strategic purchasing.

“After my year as a consultant, I felt, ‘Now I know what I want to do when I grow up.’ So, I started a two-year vocational training program called Purchaser with Sustainability Competence. I studied and worked in parallel for two years and graduated this summer.”

During the fall, she took the next step in her journey with us and stepped into the role of Purchasing Specialist with a focus on indirect procurement—a role that gives her the opportunity to continue growing.

“In my new role, I’ll be responsible for Transtema’s indirect procurement—meaning goods and services not included in our final delivery but necessary for the business to function. This can include office supplies, cleaning services, rental equipment, and travel, for example. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to grow during my time at Transtema, and stepping into the role of Purchasing Specialist now feels like a natural next step.”

Working to create understanding

Her daily work involves a wide range of tasks. Jennifer handles needs and risk analyses, supplier evaluations, market monitoring, and the drafting and negotiation of contracts to ensure the best price and quality based on business requirements. When it comes to supplier procurement, there are many aspects and interests to consider.

“In the purchasing department, we conduct procurements for the benefit of the Transtema Group as a whole—it’s about total price, warranties, terms, and more. In this way, we contribute to both the company’s and our customers’ goals, in terms of both sustainability and cost-effectiveness. In a large and geographically dispersed organization, there’s a lot to consider. You can’t please everyone, but I try to focus on understanding the bigger picture and getting the requesters on board.”

Meeting people is what gives energy

Jennifer enjoys that no day is the same—that she gets to work with a wide range of tasks and has many points of contact within the company. In her new role, she will have more contact with external parties and hold supplier dialogues with the vendors she’s responsible for.

“The social part of my work is what gives me energy. I have a lot of dialogue with colleagues internally, and now also more contact with external parties, which I find very enjoyable and rewarding. I’ve learned a lot during my time at Transtema, and with my education behind me, I feel that I have even more to contribute—both to my team and to Transtema as a whole!”
